Innovation at Wellhead is not a department. It's how a 50-person company stays relevant on a grid that turns over every fifteen years.

We were the first to commission a fully integrated hybrid gas-battery system in the United States — at Stanton, in 2020. That facility cost roughly twice what a comparable peaker would have cost. It earns roughly four times the revenue.

Current research directions.

• Long-duration storage chemistries (8–12 hour systems)
• Hydrogen blending in existing gas turbine fleets
• Carbon capture at simple-cycle scale
• Grid-forming inverter operation in islanded conditions
• AI-assisted dispatch optimization across hybrid assets
